WHAT TO WEAR FOR A KIDS PHOTO SHOOT

STYLING TIPS FOR CHILD PHOTOGRAPHY

WHEN IT COMES TO STYLING A KIDS PHOTO SHOOT, THERE’S A LOT OPTIONS FOR YOU TO CHOOSE SO IF YOU’RE WONDERING WHAT TO WEAR FOR A KIDS PHOTO SHOOT – HERE ARE SOME IDEAS TO HELP GET YOU STARTED!

Keep comfort first, my work is based on movement and playful behaviours

What you want to remember in 10 or 20 year is how happy your kids were during their childhood.

Comfort is often an afterthought in choosing clothing for kids photo sessions. But in my experience, if the clothes feel itchy/restrictive/pinched, the kids aren’t going to be happy. And they certainly aren’t going to want their photos taken! Keep outfits super simple

My work is filled with joy and happiness so adding cheerful colours to the mix can complement the mood so well!

According to the season of the year and the location you choose for the photoshoot we can plan the color palette but bright and bold colours can be a great way to capture the energy and excitement of young children.

If you want to play it safe, classic is the best option: plain or pastel or floral sundresses for the girls, trousers and shirts for the boys. Sometimes, stripes and florals work together too!

It is important to coordinate, not match, when you are deciding what to wear for photos. I can tell you  to start with the youngest kid first and pull colors from their outfit to dress and layer everyone else.

Layering can make a huge difference in tying in all the colors.

What to avoid

  • Too many accessories

  • Strong Patterns

  • Big logos or big pictures on the shirts

If you feel you need some inspiration I have even created a Pinterest board of outfit and colour ideas.

Here you can see some ideas to start creating your own style according with your child personality.
